Announcing the 2025 Chairman’s Award Recipients

The Chi Phi Educational Trust is proud to recognize the 2025 Chairman’s Award recipients. These Brothers’ extraordinary dedication, service, and generosity have made a lasting impact on our Brotherhood. This year’s honorees exemplify what it means to lead with purpose, loyalty, and a deep commitment to Chi Phi’s mission, especially during our historic Bicentennial celebration.

We are honored to celebrate the Alpha Zeta Alumni Association, Matt Scheller, Psi 2007, Rho 2024, and Jason Malone, Alpha-Chi 1997 for their remarkable contributions to Chi Phi and the Educational Trust.

Alpha Zeta Alumni Association

For the past four years, the Alpha Zeta Alumni Association has been a committed and impactful partner of the Chi Phi Educational Trust, working collaboratively to raise funds through their annual Founders Day Celebration. This weekend-long event—complete with a spirited golf tournament, meaningful opportunities for Brother bonding, and an awards banquet recognizing the chapter’s achievements—has become a hallmark of Alpha Zeta’s enduring dedication to Chi Phi. Funds raised through this celebration have directly supported scholarships for undergraduate Brothers and provided ongoing support to a named fund at the University of West Georgia, ensuring that future generations of Chi Phi Gentlemen continue to thrive.

Beyond their financial support, members of the Alpha Zeta Alumni Association played a key role in bringing the Bicentennial Bourbon fundraiser to life. From the demanding task of selecting the barrel to navigating the logistical details required to execute the initiative, their hands-on leadership was instrumental to its success. The impact of these Brothers extends well beyond their own chapter; they are consistently present, eager to lend a helping hand, generous with their support, and unafraid to share thoughtful perspectives. Their dedication and loyalty set a high standard for what it means to live as Chi Phi Gentlemen, and we are deeply grateful for their unwavering commitment and the lasting impact they continue to make across our Brotherhood.

Matt Scheller, Psi 2007, Rho 2024

For nearly two years, Brother Scheller devoted an extraordinary amount of time, creativity, and energy to ensuring Chi Phi’s Bicentennial celebration was nothing short of exceptional. His leadership was central to the creation of a cohesive Bicentennial brand, including the design of a new Badge now proudly worn by Brothers across the country, as well as a variety of limited-edition and handcrafted Bicentennial memorabilia. In addition to his creative contributions, Matt played a pivotal role in the planning and execution of every Bicentennial event: the kickoff celebration in San Francisco, five regional gatherings, and the grand finale weekend in Washington, D.C.

In the earliest stages of planning, Brother Scheller led a committee of dedicated volunteers who helped shape the vision and direction of the Bicentennial celebration. He consistently arrived prepared, on time, and with a wealth of ideas, laying a strong foundation that ensured Chi Phi’s 200th year would be met with the excellence it deserved. Over the past year, Matt and Laura Landry, Executive Director for the Educational Trust, worked tirelessly, often nights and weekends, to bring that vision to life. Their attention to detail elevated each event and created memorable experiences that resonated with attendees. There is no doubt that this Bicentennial will be remembered as one of the most significant celebrations in Chi Phi history, and its success is due in large part to Brother Scheller’s selfless dedication of his time, talent, and treasure to our Brotherhood.

Jason Malone, Alpha-Chi 1997

Brother Malone has been a cornerstone of the Chi Phi Educational Trust’s Scholarship Program for nearly a decade. As a long-standing member of the Scholarship Review Committee, Jason has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication by faithfully attending meetings, participating in norming sessions, mentoring new committee members, and offering thoughtful, constructive feedback that has strengthened the scholarship process year after year. His steady presence and commitment have helped ensure the integrity and impact of one of the Trust’s most important programs.

In 2023, Jason further expanded his service by joining the Strategic Planning Subcommittee, dedicating one to two hours each week over the course of nine months to reviewing data, refining application structure and scoring, improving program messaging, and advising on best practices for engaging Brothers. As a result of his efforts and those of the committee, a stronger and more sustainable scholarship program was presented to the Board of Trustees in 2024. Jason’s passion for the program remains unwavering; he continues to participate annually in the Circle of Scholars interview process, even rising early from Seattle to accommodate the time difference for multi-hour interview sessions and follow-up meetings. The success of the Trust’s Scholarship Program is due in large part to Jason’s loyalty, dedication, and care, and we are deeply grateful for his continued service.

The 2025 Chairman’s Award recipients embody the very best of Chi Phi: selfless service, lifelong commitment, and a shared belief in Building Better Men. We extend our sincere thanks and congratulations to each honoree and are proud to recognize their extraordinary impact on our Brotherhood.
